Poplar Butte Appaloosas is located in central Saskatchewan, Canada approximately 100 km north east of Saskatoon.

We are a moderate sized operation foaling up to five mares yearly. Our mares are F3 or better and our stallion is an F3 as well, so all the foals born are F4 by birth.

I have always loved horses and have always had a horse or two or three around the place and purchased my first appaloosa mare about ten years ago.

After studying the fascinating history of the breed I decided I wanted to raise these magnificent horses and upon further study have since decided to concentrate on the breeding of foundation lines of appaloosas.

Our aim is to keep our Appaloosas as pure as possible so will breed only Appaloosa to Appaloosa in our breeding program. Those of our horses that meet the high standards of the Foundation Appaloosa Horse Registry are registered with this registry, as well as the Appaloosa Horse Club of Canada. A few are also registered with the Appaloosa Horse Club.

Appaloosas are a versatile using breed, with a balanced conformation enabling them to perform in many endeavours. We choose the breeding stock for docility, conformation, and color patterns that have been proven to produce color, most of the time. Our aim is to raise top quality foals with the versatility, conformation and color so as to be useful as show horses, as breeding stock, for trail riding or just for a nice looking colourful horse to show off in your pasture.
